The Chamber joins with the Town of Collierville to toast historic anniversary
The Collierville Chamber of Commerce teamed with the Town of Collierville for the Chamber’s Monthly Membership Luncheon on February 20 at the Ridgeway Country Club to salute Collierville’s 150th Shine-A-Light anniversary celebration.
Sold out since early February, the luncheon was sponsored by John Green and Company Realtors, one of the founding members of the Collierville Chamber of Commerce and a member since 1984. Allen Green presented a brief overview of John Green and Company Realtors and its longstanding commitment to the Town, its civic foundations and the future of neighborhoods and education.
Included in the luncheon’s festivities, dignitaries from state and local governments offered proclamations and resolutions saluting the Town of Collierville and highlighting the unique qualities of the community. State Representative Kevin Vaughan (District 95) offered a proclamation, and Shelby County Commissioner David Bradford offered a resolution from the Shelby County Commission. Other prominent leaders in attendance included Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner and Collierville aldermen Maureen Fraser, Billy Patton, Tom Allen, John E. Stamps and John Worley. Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris attended with Shelby County Commissioners Eddie Jones, Amber Mills, Michael Whaley and Van Turner.
The day’s program, provided by the Town of Collierville, featured Collierville Mayor Stan Joyner, who presented highlights of the Town’s growth and success, pinpointing the Town’s positive and stable trends in residential real estate, home building, capital investment and expansion. He also called attention to Collierville’s strategic focus on infrastructure, including roads, public safety and managed growth.
The program featured presentations by Collierville Historian Clarene Russell and Shelby County Historian Jimmy Rout. It included personal reflections from resident and small business owner, Watty Books of the Brooks Collection, and Jack Treas, Vice President of Collierville-based Mueller Industries, a world leader of industrial manufacturing of copper and copper alloys, aluminum, steel and plastics.
Mark Heuberger, President and CEO of the Collierville Chamber, detailed special offers from local businesses designed to highlight the 150th anniversary celebration. Travel Leaders agency, the Collierville Chamber and AmaWaterways will give away a trip of a lifetime at the Chamber’s November 11th Monthly Members Luncheon. The $9,000 luxury Danube River cruise for two will be awarded by random drawing based on member’s registration and attendance at a host of Chamber events throughout the year.
Among other special deals highlighting the Town’s historic celebration, attendees of the luncheon received a scented signature soap, created by Bluff City Soap and wrapped with the Shine-A-Light Logo used for the Town’s year-long celebration. Also, the Brooks Collection, located on the historic town square, has created a Collierville anniversary collection, featuring a designer pillow and canvas sash, both available at the store.
As part of the day’s program, the Collierville Chamber of Commerce provided a fast-paced and engaging video, chronicling highlights of 2019 and featuring Chamber members at a variety of functions. Several chamber members presented testimonials on the video about the many benefits of Chamber membership.
