Jennifer Biggs Addresses Collierville Chamber’s
Monthly Membership Meeting
Jennifer Biggs, the Food and Dining Editor for the Daily Memphian, spoke at the Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s Monthly Membership Meeting on March 11 at the Ridgeway Country Club. The room was filled with courageous Chamber members who faced dark skies and heavy rain to join fellow members and friends, as they listened to the journalist’s informative and lighthearted remarks.
Biggs briefly outlined her career in journalism and the history and uniqueness of the online Daily Memphian newspaper before delving into aspects of her current position of Food and Dining Editor. Commenting on the burgeoning growth of excellent dining choices in Collierville, she noted that residents had little need to travel beyond the town’s borders to enjoy a wealth of fine dining experiences. Biggs mentioned a few of the points that often direct her selection and critique of a restaurant, including quality of the food, the cost, friendliness and overall service of the staff, the restaurant’s cleanliness, and “was it worth the time?” Biggs took questions from the audience before concluding her talk.
Prior to Biggs presentation, Barbara May of Travel Leaders, the luncheon’s presenting sponsor, offered a quick overview of the luxury Danube River cruise that will be given away in November of 2020 to a lucky Chamber member. Showing slides of the beautiful AMAWaterways vessel, its amenities and a host of the side trips and shopping experiences available, May also mentioned Travel Leaders’ long history as a Chamber member and her excitement at the Chamber’s growth. She gave a special nod of thanks to her associate and “right hand and left hand” at Travel Leaders, Martie Watson.
Mark Heuberger, CEO and President of the Collierville Chamber of Commerce, outlined upcoming events, including this year’s Collierville Chamber’s Golf Tournament to be held at Memphis National Golf Club on May 18.
