Collierville’s Campbell Clinic is at the Forefront of Pediatric Orthopaedic Care
What do you want to be when you grow up?
When it comes to this question, children run wild with their imagination. And there’s a good chance astronaut, left-fielder, basketball player, ballerina, quarterback, scientist and teacher all make the list.
The truth is – kids have no boundaries. And when gearing up for a big baseball game or an upcoming recital, sometimes your dreams can send you over the edge – literally. Like over the edge of a foul line, or over the edge of a stage during an audition.
Unfortunately, accidents happen, and Campbell Clinic knows that.
“Generally, children are generally happy; and, their childhood “job” is to play. It is through activity and play that they develop and learn about the world. If a child or teen experiences an alteration in their ability or desire to play due to pain or dysfunction in a bone, joint, or spine; then that is a concern for me as a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon,” Dr. Derek Kelly says.
Dr. Kelly spearheads the Pediatric Orthopaedic’s Department at the Campbell Clinic in Collierville. From sports-related injuries to scoliosis and limb deformities, Campbell Clinic offers comprehensive care for children who have experienced musculoskeletal injury or are living with musculoskeletal deformities.
When facing musculoskeletal issues, children are often better off if they visit a Pediatric Orthopaedic Specialist.
“Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons receive at least one additional year of training beyond the standard training of an orthopedic surgeon. During that time, they focus specifically on the musculoskeletal needs of children. The bones, joints and spine in kids are quite a bit different from adults. Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons are trained to pay special attention to the growth and function of the young patient.”
Dr. Kelly and his Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery partners provide orthopedic services to both Baptist Children’s Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. The partnership with Le Bonheur has been recognized as a Top 25 program in the United States by US News and World Report.
“We continually publish our results in the world’s leading orthopaedic journals and present our findings to other surgeons at national and international conferences every year. Our pediatric orthopaedic surgeons are not only well-respected clinicians and surgeons; but we are also leaders in our field, serving on numerous national and international orthopaedic societies and pediatric research consortium. We not only have the ability to learn from the best, but we are teaching them as well, as we shape the future of the profession and the future of pediatric bone and joint health.”
By shaping the future, the Campbell Clinic works to help children pursue their dreams, whatever they may be.
Campbell Clinic makes the first step easy. Walks-Ins are available at its Collierville location Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Telemedicine appointments are also available for new and established patients.
The clinic accepts most commercial insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare and Work Comp Cases.
“We want to bring convenience and comprehensive one-stop care for all ages and orthopaedics conditions to the residents of Collierville, Rossville, Piperton and other parts of Fayette County,” Dr. Kelly says.
Along with pediatric orthopaedics, Campbell Clinic’s Collierville location also offers general orthopaedic services as well as specialty services including – foot and ankle, hand and wrist, total joint replacement, sports medicine, shoulder and elbow, sports medicine, back, neck & spine and physical therapy.
