Collierville Chamber of Commerce Launches Ascend Program

The Collierville Chamber of Commerce launched their new Ascend program at the Bank of Collierville on Tuesday August 27. A full house of young professionals listened to Jeremy C. Park, CEO of cityCURRENT, discuss the personal, company and societal benefits of giving back to the community. “It’s a matter of hard work and heart work” he reminded attendees.

“Our Ascend program is designed especially for young professionals and is designed to equip the next generation of business leaders with networks and resources needed to transition to leadership roles in business and the community at large,” said Mark Heuberger, President of the Collierville Chamber of Commerce. “Ascend provides participants access to community and business leaders, signature events, and leadership and professional development opportunities.”

With over 183 free events sponsored by cityCURRENT this past year, Park reminded those in attendance that “good attracts good,” and recounted events from his own personal and professional background to reflect the benefits of conscientiousness and the importance of “sharing the good.” Park encouraged participants to consider giving as not just a simple investment for business purposes but as part of a “higher purpose.” He encouraged business owners, employees and individuals to understand that “social impact is part of your purpose.”

Ascend is sponsored by the University of Memphis Global. The Bank of Collierville, Thomas Meat and Seafood and Hook Point Brewing were sponsors of the launch event.

The next Ascend young professionals’ event is November 19, at Art and Speed.
