Young Professionals Gather at Thomas Meat and Seafood

Kim Cherry provides practical tips with “Communicate Your Way Up the Ladder”

Kim Cherry, CEO of Cherry & Company public relations firm, offered straight-to-the-point and practical communication tips at the February 27, 2020 meeting of the Ascend Young Professionals held at Thomas Meat and Seafood’s new meeting and party facility, Venue at TMS. The Collierville Chamber of Commerce’s Ascend Young Professionals program is sponsored by UofM Global.

The group of young professionals listened attentively to Cherry as she outlined three major points to be considered as they climb the corporate ladder. Cherry, with a vast experience in professional communications with both government agencies and within the banking industry, highlighted the need to understand “climate, context, and content” as young professionals consider their communication abilities within the corporate world.

Essential elements of successful young professionals within corporate structures often include self-awareness, influence, learning agility and communication skills, Cherry suggested, and detailed an array of points within the areas of climate, context and content to assist in climbing the corporate ladder. Giving specific examples throughout her own career, Cherry reflected on the need to be “fully present” in any job in order to enhance communication skills and influence. She included the importance of being informed and the willingness to understand the deeper context of any message. Cherry also entertained several questions from the audience at the end of her presentation.

Thomas Meat and Seafood provided their standard wonderful food and drink at the event, as young professionals networked in the convenient, new meeting facility adjacent to their market at 642 W. Poplar, Suite 642.
